What Is Rtp

Remove The Pussy
'Don't listen to the pussy side of you when you make a decision. People gravitate towards being a pussy. Remove the pussy, son.'
Marcus: Coming over this weekend for the party?
Alexander: I don't feel like it...
Marcus: RTP!

RTP is the largest research park in the United States and houses hundreds of companies, including science and technology firms, government agencies, academic institutions, startups and nonprofits. RTP is completely irrelevant for a single session. This is both true and not true. While anything can happen in a single slot session and actual RTP of the game is unlikely to be reached either way, this piece of information isn’t as important. However, on average, a slot with 96% RTP will play better than the one with 85% RTP.

  1. Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) RTP, the real-time transport protocol. RTP provides end-to-end network transport functions suitable for applications transmitting real-time data, such as audio, video or simulation data, over multicast or unicast network services. RTP does not address resource reservation and does not guarantee quality-of-service for real-time services.
  2. The RTP network, the real-time payments system from The Clearing House, is the first new core payments infrastructure in the U.S. In more than 40 years, is currently accessible to financial institutions that hold 70% of U.S. Demand deposit accounts (DDAs), and the network currently reaches 56% of U.S.
The process of searching a building for an empty bathroom. A successful bowl search typically relieves the frustration of uncomftorably defecating around others, although in less frequent cases the desire to urinate alone is a factor. Bowl searching can be done anywhere although it is most prevelant on college campuses.
'In college I did a lot of bowl searching.'
'Sam went to the bathroom like 20 minutes ago. Jeez, what's taking so long?'
'He's probably bowl searching.'

What is Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)?
RTSP is a client-server multimediapresentation control protocol. It is designed to leverage existing webinfrastructure (for example, inheriting authentication and PICS fromHTTP) and works well both for large audiences as well as single-viewermedia-on-demand. ProgressiveNetworks, NetscapeCommunications and ColumbiaUniversity jointly developed RTSP to address the needs for efficientdelivery of streamed multimedia over IP networks. It is currently beingstandardized by the MMUSICworking group within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), andis scheduled for final review in November, 1997.
What is the Real Time Transport Protocol(RTP)?
The Realtime Transport Protocol (RTP) is bothan IETF Proposed Standard (RFC 1889) and an InternationalTelecommuncations Union (ITU) Standard (H.225.0). It is a packet formatfor multimedia data streams. RTP is used by both RTSP and H.323 for thedata portion of these protocols.
What is H.323?
H.323 is a conferencing framework, standardized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). It isused for peer-to-peer, two-way delivery of audio and video phone data. It is designed to interact well with standard phone/Internet phonegateways, and works well for a moderate number of participants.
How do RTSP, RTP and H.323 relate to oneanother?
H.323 and RTSP are complementary in function. H.323 is useful forsetting up audio/video conferences in moderately sized peer-to-peergroups, whereas RTSP is useful for large-scale broadcasts andaudio/video-on-demand streaming. One could think of H.323 as offeringservices equivalent to a telephone with three-way calling, while RTSPoffers services like a video store with delivery services, a VCR orcable television.

RTSP provides 'VCR-style' control functionality such as pause, fastforward, reverse, and absolute positioning, which is beyond the scope ofH.323 and RTP.

Both H.323 and RTSP use RTP as their standardmeans of actually delivering the multimedia data. This. RTSP does not deliver data (though the RTSPconnection may be used to tunnel RTP traffic for ease of use withfirewalls and other network devices). RTP and RTSP will likely be usedtogether in many systems, but either protocol can be used without theother. The RTSP draft contains a section on the use of RTP with RTSP.

What is the relationship between RTSP andSIP?
RTSP and the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)share many common characteristics. However, RTSP is designed to controlthe media stream during delivery; SIP is not directly involved incontrolling media streams.
PropertySIPRTSP
TaskInviting users to real-time conferencesInitiating and controlling media streams to unicast and multicastaddresses
Data transportBi-directional between SIP caller and calleeOne-directional; media server may either play or record data, withdirection indicated at stream setup time
third-party deliverynot yet, but plannedThe Transport header may contain anyaddress, including an address differing from the one issuing the RTSPrequests.
CachingNo notion of content caching, as conferences are real-timeCaching similar to HTTP, where end systems contact cache to obtaincontent. Like some HTTP caches such as 'sqid', caches may be'cut-through', in that data is delived to the client before it has beencompletely received by the cache.
RedirectionLocation header; used for personalmobility and for bypassing proxiesLocation header; used for load sharingbetween media servers
Session identificationCall-IDSession
Session setupINVITE
Invites a user to one or more media sessions. Transport information isindicated in the session description included as the message body.
SETUP
Invites a server to send data for a single media stream to thedestination specified in the Transportheader field. If left open by the client, the server may also selecttransport parameters and convey them to the client using the Transport response header.
Session teardownBYE
Terminates the whole call/session.
TEARDOWN
Depending on URL, may terminate whole session or individual mediastream.
Can SIP and RTSP be usedtogether?
In many cases, SIP may not be necessary to integrate media serversinto conferences. if you want to play media into an IP multicast orunicast session or record a session, it is sufficient to tell the serverthe address using the RTSP SETUP message.

SIP may support third-party invitations in the future, but RTSPlikely will not due to its different role. If a conference participant(Alice) wants to get a media server into a conference using an MCU, itcould invite it using SIP, indicating the MCU as the third party to becontacted. The media server then invites itself to the MCU using SIPand obtains the necessary transport information. Alice then sendsnormal RTSP commands to the media server, indicating the Conference

What
Why support UDP?
Since the data volume of RTSP commands is likely to be low, theloss-induced congestion control of TCP is not particularly helpful, butmay force a client or server into excessive back-off, with long delays.

Session establishment is also faster, although this is not likely tobe a major issue since RTSP requires its own setup.
